Principal's Message

I would like to welcome all our parents, students and teachers to the 2018 academic year. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our new students and their families who have joined the Sirius College family this year. It is great to see our beloved students settling into the schooling routine once again. I am always happy to be working with an enthusiastic team of professionals and families. I trust that your experience with Sirius College will be a positive and enriching one. I hope 2018 will be full of joyful and exciting events.

I would also like to welcome our new staff members: Ms Sheridan Fenech (Classroom teacher), Ms Ronahi Zengin (Classroom teacher), Ms Rukiye Ilhan (Classroom teacher), Ms Cherie (School Nurse)

I am also happy to announce that Mrs Emel Yanilmaz (Classroom teacher) and Mrs Bahar Terzi (Integration aid) have returned back from their maternity leaves. I would like to welcome them all and wish them a very successful and fruitful teaching year in 2018.

As a reflection of the academic success and quality educational and social environment of Sirius College, we are growing fast in numbers. This year, around 190 new students have joined the Sirius College Primary family. This year is the first time at Sirius College-Eastmeadows Primary has opened a 5th Foundation class, and so; during the holiday period three new classes have been opened for this year. A heating and cooling system has been fitted in the gym and a fitness area has been added. Offices have been renovated and improved to better suit your needs. New carpets have been laid for classes on the first floor. Some work is still going on at the gym.

I want to point out that apart from school; the success also depends on the commitment and determination of each student and the support of parents. Therefore we want to see more of our parents involved with their children’s progress attending all the meetings, information sessions organised by the school, making use of SEQTA, keeping in touch with the school and teachers. Once again, I hope 2018 is a wonderful and successful year for our school community.

This Year our focuses will be on;

• Improving students’ comprehension levels in all grades,
• Improving students’ problem solving skills in numeracy - unpacking numeracy problems with students.
• To create a working and learning environment that has zero tolerance for any form of bullying and improve overall student demeanour.
